Scope of Study
The Illinois Department of Transportation has begun phase I engineering and environmental studies for the improvement of two interchanges on Interstate 55 at Lorenzo Road and Illinois Route 129. Study has shown that the current interchanges will not be sufficient to meet the projected future traffic needs and it is therefore necessary to study the corridor and identify a solution. The study’s primary focus is the rehabilitation and reconfiguration of the interchanges. The study may also include improvements to the I-55 roadway, as well as the adjacent frontage roads.
